About Fr Ignatius Huan
Making Spirituality Easy to Understand.
Rev Father Ignatius Huan Kin Kwang
23 Nov 1941 – 3 Dec 2018
Rev Father Ignatius Huan Kin Kwang, a priest of the Melaka-Johor Diocese of Malaysia, has returned to the Lord at 3.28am on 3 December 2018 (which is also the feast of Saint Francis Xavier).
Father Ignatius, also affectionately called by many as “Father Iggy”, had a deep passion in spiritual formation. He helped many people – young, old, lay people, seminarians and religious – in their journey to discovering Christ and in moulding their lives through the retreats he conducted in Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Hong Kong and Sri Lanka.
Trained in the spiritual exercises of St Ignatius while studying for his Licentiate in Sacred Theology in Rome, Father Ignatius made learning about spirituality, simple and easy to understand in the retreats he conducted.
Prior to joining the seminary at the age of 35 years old, he was a secondary school Science teacher in Segamat and Kulai, Johor. Father Ignatius was ordained a priest on 28 March 1985. He served as Rector at Good Shepherd Seminary in Melaka, and went on to become the Spiritual Director at the seminary in Penang and at St Francis Xavier Major Seminary in Singapore.
He was last posted to St John Vianney Retreat House located at Majodi Centre, Plentong, Johor.
